This is an exciting time for us at JFBC as we expand our scope of service to the community. We are welcoming patients to our new family medicine clinic. My medical assistant, Melody Morris, and I will be scheduling outpatient appointments for all ages. I will not be offering prenatal care or obstetrics; the certified midwives will continue to provide excellent prenatal and birthing care.

I have been a lot of places and Juneauites are the friendliest, most energetic and resourceful people I've met. The gloomy weather aside, I feel blessed to be back in my hometown where all of my immediate family still live. After graduating from JDHS in 1986 I attended the University of New Mexico and the University of Washington School of Medicine. Following my three year residency in family medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, my family (wife Victoria is a massage therapist, and daughter Samantha is a 2nd grader at Mendenhall River Community School) and I spent 2 years at Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital in Barrow. I then worked at Juneau Urgent Care for over four years where I was privileged to meet many Juneauites and other folks from nearby communities.

I look forward to working with the fine staff at JFBC and continuing to serve the medical needs of the people of Juneau in this new capacity.

Melody L Morris, NCMA Introduction:

I have lived in Juneau since 1989. I am married to John Morris and we have 3 children, Samantha, Bryson and Jennaya. I am a graduate of Juneau Douglas High School. I went to school in Anchorage at Career Academy to become a Medical Assistant. I have worked at Juneau Medical Clinic and started here at Juneau Family Health and Birth Center in March of 2005.
