Kristin Hock, JFBC apprentice midwife: Kristin is a native of Alaska, born and raised in Anchorage. The last 28 years were spent in Juneau with the love of her life, Jeff. Together they raised four lovely daughters and one dashing son is still in process. Her first degree and career was in fisheries biology. Having always been interested in women’s health from a holistic, preventative standpoint, she decided to begin afresh and pursue licensure as a Certified Direct-Entry Midwife. She has been studying /working at Juneau Family Birth Center since January 2006. She spent three months at Casa De Nacimiento, a high volume birth center in El Paso, Texas, to develop her clinical skills for three months in the spring of 2007. Currently she has attended the births of nearly 100 beautiful babies and hopes to be licensed the end of August, 2008. In the future she hopes to work part-time with JFBC and also use her new skills in short term mission work. In her free time she loves hanging with her family, being active outside or reading. | |
