Our Staff

Certified Direct-Entry Midwife (CDM)
A direct-entry midwife is an independent practitioner educated in the discipline of midwifery through self-study, apprenticeship, a midwifery school, or a college- or university-based program distinct from the discipline of nursing. A direct-entry midwife is trained to provide the Midwives Model of Care to healthy women and newborns throughout the childbearing cycle primarily in out-of-hospital settings.

Doulas

Doula, a word from the Greek, signifies a woman dedicated to nurturing and supporting new mothers and families. Contemporary doulas combine traditional wisdom with current practical information and hands-on guidance to provide education, support, and non-medical care. Most importantly, doulas meet the individual needs of each mother, baby, and family in the security of their own environment.

Family Practice Staff

Office Staff

As a non profit center working for families in Juneau and Southeast Alaska, we need several people to work behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly and help coordinate the many programs we facilitate.

Board of Directors

The Juneau Family Birth Center is a non profit corporation. As such, we are run by a board of directors. Board members are volunteers from the community who are elected by our members at our annual meeting.
