Student Midwives

Student Midwifery
The Juneau Family Health and Birth Center offers two different types of education and experience to Midwifery Students.

Apprenticeship: This program is a great place for student midwives to get education and experience.  Our Preceptor for the national College of Midwifery offers student classes weekly.  Students will be put in a call rotation to attend births and will attend prenatal appointments with clients.  Students will have other responsibilities to aid in the operation of the Juneau family Health and Birth Center.

Internship:  The Birth Center's internship program is offered to midwifery students who have completed the book work portion of their training and need experience in clinical and birth situations.  Students in the internship program may be required by their preceptor to attend midwifery classes and complete written assignments. Interns will have other responsibilities to aid in the operation of the Juneau family Health and Birth Center.
