This year we celebrated our 20th Anniversary! The Juneau Family Health and Birth Center first opened in 1998 in our original location on Hospital Drive. The initial build out was completed largely with the help over over 70 volunteers and our founder, Kaye Kanne, overseeing acting as our contractor. Over the next decade Kaye realized the need for an expanded location and a community space for parenting classes, leading to the campaign for funding, building, and grand opening of our current location on Salmon Creek Lane in 2008. To celebrate this milestone we had a fundraising tee shirt campaign and hosted a community open house with a bounce house, shaved ice, face painting and other games. A great time was had by all!

Fun Run: Forty runners and walkers participated in the Juneau Family Health and Birth Center’s annual Labor Day (weekend) Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Thanks to Juneau Trail and Road Runners (formerly South East Road Runners) and the American Red Cross of Alaska, we had everything we needed for a fun race, despite a bit of drizzle at the start. Supporters of natural birth, who held signs encouraging runners through the many stages of labor, cheered participants along the way. We look forward to another Labor Day Fun Run/Walk on August 31, 2019!
Madi, Christine, and Office baby Addi attended the baby fair this year. We were able to see a lot of families we have provided care for and talk to a lot of families that were thinking about starting a family or growing theirs. Thank you AEYC for allowing us to partner with you!
